A scene from the game world: a starfield and a distant planet, seen through a spaceship window

At this stage we’re not here to sell you anything, and there is nothing to buy. We’re building a game designed to measure how children pay attention while they play it, and to produce a one-page note for the SENCO in plain language. We want to know whether it’s any use to you, and we want to be told if it isn’t.

Our aim is to save teachers time, not add to it: little to set up, nothing to mark.

The government’s schools white paper, Every child achieving and thriving (February 2026), proposes earlier identification of need and digital Individual Support Plans, put together with parents and reviewed at least once a year. These changes are subject to consultation and legislation. We would like to understand, with schools, whether structured information gathered during play could be useful as that system develops.

For head teachers

  • Staff time: little to set up, nothing to mark.
  • Data protection: before any child in your school plays, we will agree a data processing agreement with you, and a data protection impact assessment will be completed.
  • Children’s privacy: the game will be built to the ICO’s Age Appropriate Design Code. Children’s data is never sold, and is de-identified before any use in research.
  • Families: every family will be asked for consent, and can withdraw it.
  • Cost: at this stage, there is nothing to buy.

For SENCOs

A one-page note in plain language, designed to sit alongside what you already know about a child, not to replace it. Nothing in it is intended to direct a decision on its own.

The SEND Code of Practice sets out a graduated approach: assess, plan, do, review. We want to understand, with SENCOs, where structured information gathered during play could be useful in that cycle, and where it would not be.

What taking part would involve

  • Children in Years 3 to 6, aged 7 to 11.
  • Played in a web browser.
  • Little to set up, nothing for teachers to mark.
  • Consent from every family before any child plays.
  • A data processing agreement with the school.
  • For the school: a one-page note for the SENCO, in plain language.

Details such as timings and the number of pupils are still being set. We will go through them with you once you get in touch.
